Stephen’s mother, Ms. Kathy, has always been a beacon of kindness in her community. For over 30 years, she worked at The Gulfstream, serving breakfast and lunch to locals and forming deep connections with her regulars. Her greatest joy was seeing familiar faces each day and making everyone feel welcome. Even when life was tough, she put others before herself, always offering a helping hand and a warm smile.
Recently, tragedy struck when a house fire destroyed her home and everything she owned. She also lost a beloved pet in the fire. Living on a fixed disability income due to aggressive arthritis, she couldn’t afford insurance on her home, and now she faces the overwhelming challenge of starting over with very limited resources. The loss has left her feeling helpless and scared, especially as she worries about never being able to host her two cherished grandchildren again.
Even on a fixed income, Ms. Kathy still donates to St. Jude, showing her generosity knows no bounds. As her son, I am here asking for help because she would never ask for charity herself, but unfortunately I don't see another way out of this terrible loss. The funds raised will help clear away the remains of her lost home and hopefully provide a down payment for a new modular or affordable house. This support will give her a chance to rebuild, regain stability, and welcome her grandkids back into a safe, loving space. Ms. Kathy has always been the light in the darkness for others—now she needs a little light herself. Anything helps—a share, a donation, or volunteering. Thank you and God bless. Any help you can give will mean the world to her and her family.
