Hi everyone, I’m fundraising for Miss Johnson and her two kids. This morning I walked into the gas station to get coffee and I heard a young woman behind the counter on the phone with her mom crying but trying to hold back her tears. She was telling her mom how hopeless she felt and defeated. Crying to her. She said “ I’m working 80 hours a week. The hotel is draining my funds, and there’s no way I’m gonna be able to come up with the money to get into that apartment. They said I only have 14 more days before my application expires. I can try to come up with some of the money, but it’s not gonna be enough.“ She was crying real tears and there was a sense of fear in her voice. Trying to hold them back from me the customer who was just checking out for his coffee. She told me to have a nice day. I walked out of the gas station to my truck parked around the corner… I sat for a second and water was brought to my eyes because I know how hard it is to be a young parent, and knew I could not walk away from that gas station without offering help. I grabbed a business card out of my truck, and went and gave it to her and told her to call my number when she could so I could figure out a way to help her. I called her and asked her what’s fully going on. She explained how she’s been homeless practically and living in a hotel with her two kids. The hotel is so expensive she can’t keep up. I asked her the name of the apartment community she applied to and permission to call them. I called them for the financial information. I know what it’s like to be 22 with kids and to have struggle and sacrifice everything you have for your kids. It’s terrifying, and I’m sure many other people reading this do to. I asked her for permission to start this fundraiser. She needs $1,275 for her security deposit and $887 to move in for her first month. I added $200 onto that for food and necessities for her kids. I plan on donating $500 to this cause. If anyone wants to speak with her to help or donate to help it would be greatly appreciated.
