Ms. Doris Jones is a hard-working senior who has lived in Simonton for many years. Many of us know her as an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer. Ms. Doris’ home and shop were flooded in the Tax Day Flood and she was back into her home only two weeks when Hurricane Harvey hit, leaving four feet of muddy water in her home. She applied and has qualified through the Texas GLO (General Land Office) Harvey Reconstruction program (funded by HUD) for a new, modest home to be built and raised five feet off the ground. This campaign is to help her raise the “gap in funding” required to begin the project. Ms. Doris is 77 and has never stopped working. The stress and strain of flooding and rebuilding has taken its toll and if there was ever someone who deserved our help, it is Ms. Doris.
