Hi, my name is Malika and I am fundraising on behalf of my neighbor Mr. Costello who is facing eviction due to unpaid rent.

Since January of this year, Mr Costello has been dealing with recurring heart issues. His medical concerns have impacted his ability to work and he has had to reduce his hours as a booth attendant at the Parkstone as a result. He has been waiting for his disability to process for 7 months now and will be able to support himself again once it goes through.

Mr. Costello has lived in his apartment since 2007 and has always devoted his time to making sure the neighborhood is safe and supporting the other tenants in the building. Through his position as a booth attendant for the building, Mr. Costello always has a kind greeting, a funny story, and an extra set of keys to help you get back into your apartment. And you can definitely count on him to always have a treat ready for every passing puppy! As a mechanic, Mr Costello supported his neighbors with tuneups and transmissions and, in his words, “everything but painting.”

Mr Costello is an important member of this community and he needs our support to stay in his home of 16 years. As this neighborhood rapidly gentrifies, it’s vital that we support our Black neighbors in staying in their homes.
