Discover Sarasota Tours is raising money to support our relocation efforts, which involve moving our 1930s cottage to its new home as part of the Sarasota Bungalow Village.
The Sarasota Bungalow Village is a new shopping, dining, and entertainment district being created on N. Briggs/Fruitville Rd. near the intersection of Tuttle and Fruitville. It will become the home of seven local businesses, including The Breakfast House, Siegfried's German Restaurant, The Cookie Cottage, The Artful Giraffe, Discover Sarasota Tours, and a coffee/wine bar. The move is expected to occur from April to June 2027, and we will open to the public in October 2027.
We anticipate needing funds for our relocation, including the cost of moving merchandise and office supplies in the gift shop, purchasing new appliances, fixtures, electrical work, a bathroom, a kitchen sink and toilet, an HVAC system, painting and repairing the cottage once it is moved, new signage, a roundabout/covered shade structure for our trolley, and the cost of being closed for a few months during the move.
All the businesses are raising money on their own; this fund supports Discover Sarasota Tours only. If you would like to support the other businesses, please find their fundraisers on this site.
Wendy Lee Goldberg, who owns The Breakfast House, has purchased the land and has financing to support moving the cottages and creating the Village, including parking, landscaping, six public restrooms, a play area, gazebos, and lighting. She has already begun renovations on the new Breakfast House that you can see on the property.
This project WILL happen because she has the funds to create it, but each business will still have costs to incur, so we need to initiate fundraising efforts so that we can absorb the costs.
Wendy will be our landlord in the new location because she will own the land and the cottages. Her dream and ours is to save a bit of OLD SARASOTA by moving the historic cottages to create a family-friendly destination for all our customers to enjoy.
Our goal is to raise $100,000, and we are grateful for your consideration in contributing to make our presence in the Village a reality.
Our 18 trolley tours have become the BEST way to see Sarasota and Venice and to learn about our history, culture, and interesting communities. We share the history of Sarasota on our tours and are excited to now be part of that history in action!
If you would like to help us in our efforts, we would deeply appreciate a donation.
