Help Monserat Lopez Keep Her Family Together

Hi, my name is Monserat Lopez.

I’m the oldest daughter in my family, and I’m reaching out during the most difficult moment we’ve ever faced.

Just today my dad, Felipe de Jesus Lopez, was pulled over while driving home from work. He was stopped for “suspicious tires” and tinted windows. My dad wasn’t speeding. He wasn’t doing anything wrong. He was just coming home to us, his wife, my younger sister, and me.

After checking his information, the officer found out my dad is undocumented and called Border Patrol. My dad and my uncle were arrested and sent to Corpus Christi, then transferred to McAllen. Because neither of them has a criminal record, they were given the option to either fight their case or be deported.

We are heartbroken and terrified. My dad has always been the rock of our family, he’s worked hard every day to support us, even when it meant traveling out of town. Without him, our lives have completely turned upside down. We’re trying to raise funds to pay for his bond and an immigration lawyer who can fight for him to stay.

We know times are tough for many, and asking for help is never easy, but we are doing everything we can to keep our family together. Anything you can give, even just sharing this page, means the world to us. My dad doesn’t deserve to be treated like a criminal for trying to provide for his family. He deserves a chance to stay.
