Hello, my name is Monica, and I’m reaching out for help to retain an attorney.

Two of my children were subjected to abuse while living with their father. Thankfully, he has since relinquished custody and abandoned them, leaving them in my care. They have been living with me full-time since December 2022.

Despite having sole physical custody for over a year, I am still legally obligated to pay him child support. This unjust situation has placed an overwhelming financial burden on our family. I’ve lost our home, my car, my job, and now even my driver’s license as a result.

I’ve sought help from Legal Aid, the Nashville Bar Association, Child Support Enforcement, and several family law attorneys. All have confirmed the same thing: to change the custody arrangement and protect my children legally, a judge must modify the current order.

I urgently need to hire an attorney to protect my children from further harm and to put an end to the child support order that no longer reflects our reality.
