Monica has been a dedicated member of our masjid community for over a year, working tirelessly to keep the mosque clean and welcoming for everyone. Her gentle nature, constant smile, and friendly attitude have made her a beloved presence. Monica goes above and beyond in her work, always ensuring the space is cared for with genuine attention and kindness. She is especially grateful to anyone who helps her learn more about Islam or improve her English, and her resilience and warmth inspire everyone she meets.

Monica recently took her shahada, earlier this year at our very own ADAMS. Though initially she was told to convert without being explained much about Islam, with the explanation of some lovely new friends she really does have tawheed and believes in Allah and belief in his prophets. Her journey brings to mind the story of Ummu Mihjan, a woman who lived in the Prophet Muhammad’s blessed city of Madina. After her heart was purified by faith, Ummu Mihjan devoted herself to cleaning the Masjid Al Nabawi, the Mosque of the Prophet, every day. The Prophet respected and cared deeply for her, honoring her humble service both during her life and after she passed away. Monica’s commitment to caring for our masjid echoes this same spirit of devotion and service, and she has become an inspiration to our community through her hard work and kindness.

Recently, Monica has been facing significant challenges. She’s been working two jobs to make ends meet and is striving to become more independent by studying for her driver’s license. Monica is now searching for an affordable car, but the risk of ending up with unreliable transportation is a real concern. Reliable transportation would not only help her get to work and community events more easily, but also provide her with safety and stability, especially when traveling late at night. It would allow Monica to keep more of her hard-earned money instead of spending it on rideshares and public transit, supporting her personal growth and independence.
