Help Mohammed Support His Displaced Family in Gaza and Egypt
Goal: $25,000
Every dollar helps Mohammed care for his loved ones in Gaza, and support the children and elders he’s sheltering in Egypt.
Dear Activists and Donors,
My name is Mohammed Hatem, and I am from the Zeitoun area in the northern Gaza Strip. When the genocide began, my family and I were displaced from Jabaliya on the third day of bombing. We fled to a school in central Gaza, hoping for safety. My family included my mother, father, little brother, and four sisters — some of them with young children. Each day after that felt like a nightmare, as we were forced to move again and again, from one unsafe location to another.
We lived in tents, carrying only what little we had salvaged. For two months, we stayed in Jabaliya, but the danger never stopped. In January, we were displaced again — this time, my family was split apart. Some stayed in central Gaza, others returned to the north, where they were displaced internally three more times, moving between tents and crowded schools. No place was ever truly safe.
Before the war, I had majored in Public Relations at Al Aqsa University — which has since been destroyed. I had begun my career as a photographer. I loved capturing images of the people and places I loved. But all of my equipment was lost in the bombings, and like so many others, I lost my job and my future.
We lived in fear every second of every day. There was no food, or what little there was came at unaffordable prices. There was no clean water, no medicine, no access to medical care. My father was injured and could no longer walk. My mother was living with cancer and could not be medically evacuated. Her condition worsened without access to treatment or medication. One of my sisters, displaced to Deir al-Balah, lived in a tent with her two children, struggling to survive in unbearable weather with no protection from flooding or cold.
After eight months of enduring war in Gaza, I was able to evacuate with my grandmother to Egypt. We are now displaced in a foreign country, living in a constant state of uncertainty. Alongside my grandmother, I am also caring for my aunt and three young children: one is my aunt’s daughter, and the other two are my cousins whose mothers remain trapped in Gaza. We all evacuated together, but life here remains extremely difficult.
As Palestinians displaced to Egypt, we cannot legally work, the children cannot attend school, and we have no access to public health services. With no real support system, I am doing everything I can just to keep my family safe, fed, and sheltered — but every day is a struggle.
My heart is still in Gaza. My parents, my brother, and my sisters remain in the north, where conditions have become unimaginably harsh. Aid barely reaches them, and survival means facing hunger, disease, trauma, and constant danger. They rely on me for emotional and financial support — but I can’t do this alone.
This fundraiser is my only way to help them.
Any donation you can give will go directly toward helping my family in Gaza and those I care for here in Egypt. Your support will provide food, medicine, basic needs, and shelter for people who have lost everything.
Please share if you cannot donate — your voice matters too.
With all my heart,
Mohammed Hatem
A Double Burden: One Man, Two Fronts of Survival
Mohammad wakes up every morning trying to figure out:
How to feed his displaced family in Egypt, where the cost of living is high and jobs are scarce.
How to send even the smallest amount of money back to Gaza so his family can eat, drink clean water, and stay alive.
Everything we once had now feels like a distant memory.
Our home was bombed, and with it, we lost everything — not only our belongings and property, but also the memories, keepsakes, and pieces of our lives that made us feel human.
We have lost over 100 members of our extended family — martyrs whose absence we carry every single day. Entire family lineages are being erased. The physical and psychological toll is beyond what words can describe. We are grieving while trying to survive.
Your donation can help us begin to cope with this devastation and hold on to the possibility of a future.
In recent weeks, we have witnessed a terrifying trend: even aid distribution sites are being bombed or attacked. We are afraid to go retrieve the aid we desperately need — but we have no choice, because without it, we cannot survive.
To make things worse, there are growing reports that some aid is being tampered with. Videos and testimonies from Palestinians on the ground show evidence of narcotics and unknown substances being found in aid packages and flour. This makes an already desperate situation even more dangerous.
We are living through something unimaginable — and we need your support to survive it.
The Hidden Crisis:
Currency Dealers Taking 50% of Everything
Due to the collapse of Gaza’s banking system, the only way to get money in is through informal currency dealers. But they charge desperate families up to 50% just to withdraw funds. That means: If Mohammad sends $100, his family only gets $50.
Half of everything goes to middlemen. Even humanitarian funds sent from abroad are being gutted before reaching those in need. It's one of the cruelest parts of the economic war unfolding behind the scenes.
Where Your Help Goes:
Every donation to this campaign will directly support:
Daily food and water for Mohammad’s family in Gaza.
Medical needs for his grandmother in Egypt.
Living costs (rent, food, transportation) for his displaced aunt and cousins. Currency losses he faces sending money into Gaza.
Survival Costs in Gaza: Prices Have Skyrocketed Tremendously the prices of these basic items fluctuate daily, but no matter what the price is. we cannot afford them since there is no viable infrastructure:
1 kg of flour
1 kg of rice
1 liter of cooking oil Clean
water (1 gallon)
Diapers (one pack)
Box of essential medicine
A small bag of vegetables
Rechargeable battery/power
These are not luxury items. These are survival staples that most families can no longer afford. Even if the money makes it to Gaza, there is often nothing left on the shelves to buy, due to the months of blockade.
Why This Matters:
Mohammad is not just surviving — he’s holding two generations of his family together with the strength of one man. Your support can ease his burden and give his family in Gaza a chance at survival and dignity. Even a small donation can provide a day of meals, medicine, or warmth.
Please Share and Support:
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this story. Every share spreads awareness. Every act of kindness helps fight back against despair. Thank you for standing with families like Mohammad's in their most desperate hour. #GazaSupport #DisplacedButNotForgotten
Dear Friends and Donors,
I’m writing today to ask for your support for someone who has shown extraordinary compassion and resilience under the most difficult circumstances—my friend Mohammad.
When I met Mohammad he was still in Gaza and I witnessed how difficult it was for him to leave his whole family behind. Since he evacuated he has taken on the responsibility of caring for his younger cousins and elderly grandmother—all while separated from his immediate family, who remain in danger back home. Despite the trauma of displacement and the instability of his current situation, Mohammad continues to give everything he has—emotionally, physically, and financially—to support his loved ones.
When I visited Mohammad in March, I witnessed firsthand the conditions he and his family are living in. They share a cramped, modest space with very limited access to essential resources. The stress of their daily life is constant and overwhelming, yet Mohammad meets it all with humility and quiet strength. He never complains. He just keeps giving.
What’s even more remarkable is that Mohammad doesn’t stop with his own family. He goes out of his way to help other displaced Gazans in Egypt—visiting them, checking on their needs, sharing food, and offering his time and presence as a friend and neighbor. He is a source of light and hope for many, even while he is struggling himself.
Now, he needs our help. We are launching a fundraising campaign to support Mohammad directly—so he can continue to care for his cousins and grandmother, send aid to his family in Gaza, and maintain the quiet but powerful work he does for others in his community. Every dollar will go toward food, rent, medicine, and basic needs. If you’re able to give—whether it's $10 or $500—you’ll be making a real difference in the life of someone who always puts others first. If you can’t give financially, please consider sharing this message. The more people who hear Mohammad’s story, the more support we can build.
Thank you for standing in solidarity. In helping Mohammad, you’re also helping to uplift a whole network of displaced families that he quietly serves every day—with love, compassion, and dignity.
With gratitude,
Rajaa
Dear Donors,
My name is Paz Jurado. I’m an artist and activist from Chile, currently based in Toronto, Canada.
I know Mohammed personally, and I can say with full confidence that he is a kind, generous, and deeply compassionate human being. Even while caring for his own displaced family, he continues to support others in Egypt — including families who, like him, fled the horrors of the Gaza´s Genocide.
I urge you from the bottom of my heart: please support Mohammed’s campaign, whether through a donation or by sharing it widely. Every bit of help makes a difference.
As we all know, the situation in Gaza becomes more catastrophic every day. Families are enduring unimaginable conditions, and our people in Gaza need every ounce of support we can give them.
Thank you so much for your solidarity.
Free Palestine.
With hope and gratitude,
Paz Jurado
