Help Mizpah's Family Rebuild After Typhoon
Donation protected
Hi friends and family!
This is Mizpah writing for my family in the Philippines. Yesterday, October 23, 2024, my province was hit by a typhoon that caused extremely severe flooding across the city and its nearby towns, including our town, Canaman, Camarines Sur.
Because of this, my parents, along with six of my siblings, my niece, and our church workers, were forced to find higher ground to escape the gushing water. They found shelter on the roof of one of the houses in our church compound, where they endured being drenched in the rain on top of a roof with quickly rising water levels for nearly 10 hours! Being stranded on the roof, waiting for a rescue team to help them evacuate to a safer location, was not the hardest part. It was slowly watching our neighborhood, church, and home property submerged in water.
As of today, we estimate the damage caused by the flood to be over 1 million pesos. My family is currently staying at a safe evacuation area, but they were unable to save anything other than the clothes they were wearing that day and my sister's work laptops. In our church compound, where my family also stays, the church property (including the sound system, instruments, chairs, furniture, etc.), our pets, farm animals, and four cars are all still submerged in water as I write this.
We are thankful to everyone who prayed with us, helped rescue my family, and continues to reach out with their love.
I created this GoFundMe page to help aid my family in the aftermath of the flooding.
These are some of the emerging needs:
Short Term Need:
- Food
- Beddings inluding mattress
- Pillows
-my Dad’s medicine
- Extra Clothes (we have one baby girl)
- Socks
- Water
Long Term Need:
1. Finding a temporary home as they wait for the water to subside. It is estimated to be at least 1 week before the water fully subside.
2. Acquiring clothes, including underwear.
3. Cleaning up and repairing the house and church compound.
4. Attempting to repair the cars parked in the compound. (We need a miracle!)
5. Sharing relief goods with our neighbors who, like us, have experienced flooding.
Sincerely,
Mizpah
