Help Mrs.Fukuzaki Get Back on the Road

Hello, my name is Mitsu, you probably know me through friends, family, or church.

I’m reaching out because my mom was in a serious car accident on Monday, March 17th, 2025. Thankfully, she wasn’t seriously injured, but she’s been left with heavy bruising and seatbelt cuts/abrasions across her neck and chest. My sister and I took her to and stayed with her at the hospital, and after running some tests, the doctors cleared her. Right now, she’s home resting with my brother who is doing his best to take care of her and help around the apartment, but it’s clear she’s still in a lot of pain.

It’s been difficult for us to process how close this could have been to something much worse. We’ve been told that if my mom hadn’t instinctively turned the wheel slightly in that moment, the impact could have been head on. That small movement likely saved her life, but the crash still managed to total her car.

For those who know my mom, you know how much she’s given not just to our family, but to the greater community. She’s always made it a priority to contribute where she can, never asking for anything in return. She’s a quiet, steady presence, always giving what she could without complaint.

She’s been working at a seafood distributor for nearly two decades as a cleaning associate, earning a little above minimum wage. It’s hard, physical work, and she’s done it year after year to support our family. Unfortunately, she hardly has a retirement fund or much saved up. Her car was her only means of getting to work and staying independent.

The day after the accident, my mom tried to walk to work, determined to get back on her feet. She could barely make it a mile before feeling completely helpless, so she walked back home. She should have been resting, but she pushed herself because that’s just who she is never willing to give up. My sister is currently lending my mom her car and walking to work herself.

My siblings and I are doing what we can to support her, but replacing her car and covering medical bills is more than we can manage on our own. If you’re able to help, even in a small way, it would make a huge difference. We just want to make sure she has the transportation she needs to get back to work when she’s ready.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for all the love and support you’ve shown my mom over the years.

-Mitsu
