Melissa Riehl, my barn manager for over 20 years, experienced a devastating fire last night that destroyed her garage. Thankfully, she was able to escape with her dogs, and her quick thinking allowed her to save her tractor, one truck, and her car before the fire became too dangerous. Her horses are all safe, and her loyal dog Dirks alerted her to the fire, which prevented the house from being lost as well. While the house was spared from total destruction, it did sustain some damage that will require repairs.
