In the spring of 2022, Dan and Catherine met a wonderful Nigerian woman named Miriam. At that time, she had been living in Calgary since 2017 working towards getting permanent residency (PR) so that her family could join her and start their new lives in Canada. Unfortunately, the woman she had been living with had to move to BC and Miriam was going to be left homeless if someone didn't step in to help. Dan & Catherine decided to invite her to live in their condo rent-free until the Canadian government processed her PR. The approval can come at any time and when it does Miriam will need funds to pay for her husband and four children to fly to Canada.

This year we invite you to donate what you can to help fly Miriam's husband and four children to Calgary once the long-awaited documentation is received. As with previous fundraising initiatives, True North Mortgage will match the total amount of donations raised.

Here is a bit more about Miriam and her family:

In May 2017 Miriam was given the opportunity to come to Canada on a work visa for two years. She decided to proceed, even though it would mean leaving her family for two years, because it would give them a way out of a region dealing with violent persecution of Christians and it would offer a bright future for her children. In 2019, Miriam applied for permanent residency which would allow her to be reunited with her loved ones. Unfortunately, due to the Covid pandemic, the process was substantially delayed. Currently, Miriam's family has completed the final stages of the application process and is awaiting the good news they have been eager to receive for five years.

In addition to her husband, Miriam has three daughters and one son (pictures attached). She wishes to thank all of you for your support and is looking forward to the day when she can wrap her arms around her family at the airport.
