Feb 24 update: At this point, I am not able to take any further requests, as there is still a long waiting list. The news is moving on, but we are still experiencing fear. And we are still having to pick up the pieces of this occupation. Rent is due this weekend!
Feb 7 update: When I went to bed, I had 17k in rent requests - a lot. When I woke up today, I had 60k. The reality is I will likely not be able to support all of these requests. But let's try to knock a few more out! I am going to keep raising funds as I can.
Feb 5 Update: We have helped 24 households with housing costs! I now have $15,000 of requests. The requests keep coming in and people are desperate for services/resources/connections. So many families. So many forced single parents. So many community workers reaching out to assist the people they work with.
Feb 4 Update: We have helped 20 households maintain safe housing!!!! And I have $7300 of requests waiting to be filled. Donations seem to be slowing, so if you come across this, please share the link with your networks!
Feb 1 Update: So far, we have been able to assist 17 households with rent and housing costs. This is not a one-time need - I have so many people waiting for funds. This is continuing into February and beyond. Please keep sharing and donating. We are keeping our neighbors housed!!!!
Our neighbors need our help to maintain safety. While many people cannot work, rent will still be due at the beginning of the month, and federal funds are getting cut from Minneapolis. Let's raise some funds to be given to people who need it.
Also, please sign this petition to stop evictions while ICE occupies our city. It would be great to put this money elsewhere. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/evict-ice-not-us-minneapolis-eviction-moratorium
