On March 21st, my parents, Milton Cáceres and Leticia López, were involved in a devastating car accident. A driver ran a red light at high speed and crashed into their car, which was also hit by another vehicle. My cousins and their two girls were with them, and everyone was shaken by the experience. Both of my parents were hospitalized with serious injuries, and their existing medical conditions have been made worse by this tragedy. Now, they are in treatment and must visit the hospital and doctors regularly for their recovery.
The gravity of the accident is hard to put into words. The driver who caused the crash left his own friend in the ICU, and we still don't know if he will survive. This has deeply affected everyone involved and shows just how serious the situation is for all families touched by this event.
Before the accident, we were already facing financial difficulties. My dad's car, which he used for work, was totaled in the crash, leaving us without a vital source of income. My parents are the heads of our household, and now I am responsible for everything—covering medical appointments, transportation, hospital bills, and all our monthly expenses. I only have a part-time job, as I had to leave my full-time position to focus on graduating in May. On top of all this, I am caring for my parents, managing their injuries, and looking after our dog, Apollo. We have always supported each other, but now it's just me trying to keep us afloat.

Antes del accidente, ya enfrentábamos dificultades económicas. El auto de mi papá, que usaba para trabajar, quedó destruido en el choque, dejándonos sin una fuente vital de ingresos. Mis padres son el pilar de nuestro hogar, y ahora yo soy responsable de todo: cubrir citas médicas, transporte, facturas hospitalarias y todos nuestros gastos mensuales. Solo tengo un trabajo de medio tiempo, ya que tuve que dejar mi empleo de tiempo completo para poder graduarme en mayo. Además de todo esto, estoy cuidando a mis padres, ayudándolos con sus lesiones y ocupándome de nuestro perro, Apollo. Siempre nos hemos apoyado mutuamente, pero ahora solo cuento conmigo para mantenernos a flote.
