Help Milse (Single Mom of 3) Support Her Children
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Chris Vasquez and a few nights ago I met a woman named Milse here in Medellin, Colombia. I was walking home & it started pouring rain -- I saw Milse selling umbrellas on the street and purchased one from her. As I walked away, I unknowingly dropped a wad of cash out of my pocket... she found me and returned the money to me.
I thanked her and took a minute to ask her a few questions.
This is what I learned:
- Milse is a single mom of 3 children and 1 granddaughter
- She lives 90 minutes away in the mountains and has taken a bus 3-4x per week into the city for the last 20+ years to sell anything she can to provide for her children (3 hours commute daily)
- Her and her children live in a tiny house with a damaged roof that constantly leaks during rain storms. They have no electricity. They sleep on old beat up matresses on top of wood blocks.
- Each child has a few articles of clothing. All of her money goes towards providing food.
- She is down to her last week of food and has no savings.
I asked her what her dream is... she said, "I just want to give my kids what they deserve. I can barely afford to provide my children with food. My kids need shoes and clothes but all of my money goes to food."
And what about your personal dream? "My biggest dream is to finish building my house. I am trying to save money for bricks and a roof."
I got emotional.
I told her she doesn't have to worry anymore. My friends and I will make sure her dreams come true.
Her reply: "I don't believe it. I don't understand how this can happen to me. No one has ever helped me. Thank you God."
Imagine waking up as a single Mom every day for 15+ years worrying about how you're going to feed your kids. No husband, no friends, no help.
I can't imagine how lonely and difficult this journey has been for her.
And despite her struggles, knowing that every dollar means the world to her, she still chose to return my lost money to me.
What kind of person does that? This is a woman that has no one looking out for her, but never misses an opportunity to look out for others.
Milse is a hero. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders, and it's time she receives some support.
We are raising $10,000 so we can buy:
- New mattresses
- New shoes & clothes for her children
- Food for her family for the next year
- Materials to complete her house (new roof, electricity, etc)
Join me and help change Milse's life -- she deserves it!
