Hi Family,

Many of you may not know, but my brother Miles is currently in treatment in Florida. A couple of months ago, he reached out to me and he was ready to get help. I had never before seen this level of willingness in him, and I was able to get him into a 90-day treatment program.

The program he is in is more than just sobriety, it focuses on teaching life skills that Miles was never given, so he can learn how to live independently and build a healthy, sober life.

After treatment, he is committed to continuing his recovery by working closely with Brian Harvey for a full year. During that year, Miles will be required to:

Maintain a job working 20+ hours each week
Attend at least 3 recovery meetings per week
Pass random drug tests

It’s a strict program, but I know he can do it. If he completes it, he will have the opportunity to get his job back as a longshoreman, if that’s what he chooses. Personally, I’d love to see him pursue something he’s passionate about, like culinary school, but that’s for him to decide when he’s ready.

Here’s the challenge: Miles has never lived on his own, and our parents are not in a position to help. If he returns with no plan or place to live, he will likely end up back with family members in environments where drugs are present, which would put his recovery at immediate risk. My hope is to set him up for success with two essentials: a safe apartment and a reliable car when he returns home in November.

That’s why I’m asking for your help. If our family can come together to support him, we can give Miles the foundation he needs to move forward with confidence.

If you aren’t able to give financially, please know that your prayers and encouragement are just as important. When he returns, I’ll share his phone number so you can reach out and let him know you’re rooting for him. I’ll also post updates on his progress and on how the funds are used.

I’m not making this public, because my goal isn’t to embarrass Miles or make him feel like a burden. This is simply about showing him that his family cares about him and believes in his future. I truly believe Miles can have an amazing life ahead of him, he just needs a little help getting started.

Thank you for reading, praying, and supporting in any way you can.

With love,
Whitney
