Help Mike Rebuild His Home and His Life After Hurricane Beryl
Mike Mireles has always been the friend who shows up.
If there was a senior event in the neighborhood, he volunteered his time to DJ. If someone needed help moving, fixing something, or just needed company, he found a way to be there. He’s one of those rare people who gives quietly and wholeheartedly, never expecting anything back.
When Hurricane Beryl hit Houston last summer, Mike’s world turned upside down.
The storm destroyed his roof and water flooded his home, causing severe mold and structural damage. He tried to handle everything on his own, paying for small repairs out of pocket, doing whatever he could to keep going. But the damage was too big, too expensive, and too overwhelming for one person to manage.
Neighbors reached out to local community offices for help, and they came to inspect the home. They agreed the damage was serious. But because Mike missed the FEMA deadline, he wasn’t able to get disaster assistance. Since then, he’s been stuck in a heartbreaking limbo — unable to afford full repairs and unable to live safely inside his own house.
Mike has been bouncing between friends’ homes, and at times has even slept in a tent in his own yard just to have a place to rest.
No one should have to live like that, especially someone who has given so much of himself to others.
This GoFundMe is to help Mike repair his home and restore his stability.
Donations will go toward:
• Removing mold and damaged materials
• Repairing the roof and structure
• Making the home safe and livable again
• Covering temporary living costs while repairs happen
Mike would never ask for help on his own — that’s why we’re asking for him. Even the smallest contribution makes an enormous difference.
If you can donate, please do. If you can share this with others, that support matters too.
Thank you for helping give Mike the chance to come home again.
