Hi, My name is Brad Kosh. I am reaching out to raise funds to help my brother in law, Mike Miles, recover from a devastating house fire. On Sunday, July 21, 2024, my brother-in-law's home burned down. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is likely electrical in nature. Not only did Mike barely make it out of the fire, but his beloved dog succumbed to smoke inhalation. Thanks to the heroic actions of a neighbor, who suffered injuries saving Mike's life, Mike was able to get out the back door to find firefighters already onsite. Mike fought to get back into the house to save his best friend, Pex, but the firefighters would not allow him to reenter the home. Mike and the neighbor were taken by ambulance to the burn unit where they both received care. We are still unsure of the extent of the neighbor's injuries, and will update here as we get more information. Upon returning home after his release from the hospital, Mike searched the area for signs of his dog, and when he found no evidence of her remains, he assumed she had run off. We had to break the tragic news to him later, that she had perished in the fire and the Humane Society had been called to the scene to collect her remains, while Mike was receiving medical care.
Mike has his truck and the clothes that he was wearing when he escaped the fire, but he has lost everything else.
