My name is Mike, and I am a small business owner and a father to a 12-year-old son. I am reaching out today with a heavy heart to ask for your support after a sudden and serious accident left me with a broken foot and a mountain of medical bills.

This past Sunday, while enjoying a ride on an e-bike in North Carolina, I hit a patch of loose gravel around a corner. The bike low-sided, and I landed awkwardly on my left ankle, fracturing it. In the moment, I didn't realize the severity of the injury. I got back on the bike and rode back to my brother's house, where I elevated and iced it. The next morning, it was clear something was seriously wrong. I couldn't walk, and I had to be wheeled to my flight back home to Connecticut.

My girlfriend insisted I get an X-ray as soon as I got home. The results were devastating: a significant fracture requiring immediate surgical intervention. My diagnosis is a left lateral malleolus and left posterior malleolus fracture, with a possible left syndesmosis injury, all of which require a surgical procedure known as ORIF (Open Reduction and Internal Fixation).

As a small business owner and without health insurance, this injury has created a financial crisis for my family. I am the face of my business—I handle all the selling, client communication, and a large majority of the day-to-day tasks. While my team is doing their best to keep things running, my inability to be there physically will make it a struggle for the business to operate effectively. My income will be severely impacted, and the costs for my surgery are overwhelming:

Doctor/Surgeon Fee: $3,400

Anesthesia: $2,000

Surgeon Center Fee: $6,500

Physical Therapy, follow-up appointments, etc.: The remaining costs of the campaign

I am hoping to raise $15,000 to cover these expenses. Every dollar raised will go directly toward paying for my surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation, ensuring I can get the care I desperately need without facing financial ruin.

This injury has turned my life upside down. I am now unable to do simple daily tasks like cooking dinner for my son, taking my dog for walks, or even performing basic household chores. The physical and financial strain is immense, and I am worried about the future of my business and my ability to provide for my son.

I am a hard worker, and it is incredibly difficult for me to ask for help. However, I am now in a position where I have no other choice.
