<div>This past Sunday, while enjoying a ride on an e-bike in North Carolina, I hit a patch of loose gravel around a corner. The bike low-sided, and I landed awkwardly on my left ankle, fracturing it. In the moment, I didn't realize the severity of the injury. I got back on the bike and rode back to my brother's house, where I elevated and iced it. The next morning, it was clear something was seriously wrong. I couldn't walk, and I had to be wheeled to my flight back home to Connecticut.

<div>My girlfriend insisted I get an X-ray as soon as I got home. The results were devastating: a significant fracture requiring immediate surgical intervention. My diagnosis is a left lateral malleolus and left posterior malleolus fracture, with a possible left syndesmosis injury, all of which require a surgical procedure known as ORIF (Open Reduction and Internal Fixation).

<div>As a small business owner and without health insurance, this injury has created a financial crisis for my family. I am the face of my business—I handle all the selling, client communication, and a large majority of the day-to-day tasks. While my team is doing their best to keep things running, my inability to be there physically will make it a struggle for the business to operate effectively. My income will be severely impacted, and the costs for my surgery are overwhelming:
