Hello friends! My name is Mikey and I am raising money to help my parents pay for pancreatic cancer treatment expenses for my dad, Mike Brown. Dad was diagnosed last year and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past 6 months. The news was devastating as he lives a healthy lifestyle and has no prior history of cancer. Much of our lives had to be put on pause including a big fishing trip up north that he was looking forward to. He just recently finished round 12 of chemo and now has to undergo radiation treatment and additional chemo pills before any surgery can be done. While he has been receiving chemo locally through Bronson, he and my mom, Kim, are having the treatment plan overseen by doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis, MN. They have been traveling back and forth to have all manner of tests done at the clinic there. This weekend, they will be leaving to stay 3 weeks in Minneapolis while my dad undergoes radiation. They were hoping to stay at the Mayo Clinic Hope Lodge to be able to save some money but were denied as there are 75 people on the waitlist before them. Now, they will need to find additional lodging which will cost a few thousand dollars at the least. My dad will also have to take time off work which will be rough since he is the only source of income for my parents and has been working during the entire course of his treatment so far. After the radiation, they will need to do surgery to remove the tumor on his pancreas that had been pushing into his liver and causing additional problems. While we are very grateful that the cancer was caught early, this is still extremely draining mentally, emotionally, and financially for my whole family. My parents have been slowly draining their life savings to try and save my dad’s life. This is my first time ever asking for help in a manner like this, but any contributions made will greatly reduce the burden that my parents are facing. We have been incredibly grateful and feel blessed to have so many family and friends show their support this past year.
