Help Mike and his Family Through this Very Tough Time

Hi, my name is Mackenzie, and I'm creating this fundraiser on behalf of my family; my dad especially.

My dad, Mike, has always been my biggest supporter and role-model, one of my best friends, one of the best fathers (and grandfathers), and one of the bravest and strongest people that I know.

In April of 2023, my dad was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Prostate Cancer, that he started treatment for in the summer of that same year. In the fall, he started radiation treatments, chemotherapy drugs, and hormone shots after the cancer had spread to his sacrum and spine, and he was re-diagnosed with Aggressive Metastatic Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. Due to this cancer being so aggressive, he will likely be on medication for the rest of his life.

After finishing radiation, things started to look up, and my dad was able to start doing most things again; still feeling quite tired by the end of the day, but he would hide it so well you wouldn't even know. However, in May, things took a turn for the worse.

While his cancer has remained at bay, other problems started to happen as a result of the disease. Between then and now, my dad has had kidney stones, infections, blood clots, blockages, been in and out of the hospital (countless doctors appointments and hospital stays), and two ambulance rides (one of which I was present for). Nobody ever prepares someone for seeing their parent, their rock, in the shape that my dad has been in. All of this happened because of damage done by the radiation, and it has now left him with a nephrostomy bag for the next couple of months.

And due to all of this, my dad has not been able to work for the last couple of months.

My mom, Amber, is another one of the strongest people that I know. She's gone through so much too, and she's been by my dad's side this whole time.

This is why I created this fundraiser, to help my parents out. In a time like this, my parents priority should be focusing on my dad getting better, and shouldn't be thinking and worrying about money.
