Help Me Bring Education & Development to Sal - Cape Verde!
Donation protected
Hi dear people,
My name is Elle, and I’ve just graduated as an educational scientist and pedagogue. This September, I’m heading to the island of Sal (Cape Verde) for four weeks of volunteer work in a small fishing village called Pedra de Lume. It’s a place that touched me deeply during a recent trip. I was struck by the contrast between the booming tourism and the reality in the local communities that see very little of its benefits.
That experience sparked something in me: a strong desire to give back in a meaningful and lasting way.
Through the Homestay Program of Project Biodiversity, I’ll be staying with a local family and working on initiatives that support education and sustainable community development, directly in collaboration with the people of Pedra de Lume. This includes:
- Educational activities for children and adults
- Language education (such as English, which is important for tourism-related work)
- Awareness-building around nature and sustainability
- Community projects tailored to local needs
What makes this project so special is that it’s entirely community-driven. Host families are fairly compensated, and all efforts are focused on strengthening the village from within. That’s also why I’m raising funds: to support the local community as much as possible; both through the time and knowledge I bring, and through the resources I can leave behind.
Your support will help make this possible: by covering part of my travel and stay, and more importantly, by enabling me to invest directly in the local community.
Everything raised will go toward:
- Educational materials (notebooks, pens, learning games)
- Creative tools for workshops and play
- Local initiatives I can support or co-organize
- A contribution to the school or community center
Whether you can give €5 or €50, or just share this with someone else: thank you for helping me support this beautiful community.
With love,
Elle
