My parents, Mick and Gail Barr, recently suffered a serious fire at their home in Hamburg. Their vehicle exploded and caught fire while it was turned off and parked in the driveway, and the intense flames quickly spread to the house. Thanks to the extremely fast response from the Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department and other assisting departments, the house was saved from complete loss and can be restored.
Most importantly, my parents made it out safely and no one was injured. But the damage has still been significant. Their vehicle was destroyed, and the home suffered major fire, smoke, soot, and water damage. They are currently displaced from their home and living in a hotel while they work through insurance, cleanup, restoration, and the long process of putting life back together.
A large portion of their personal property and everyday household belongings were also damaged or destroyed, including my mom's wheelchair and hospital bed. As many people know, insurance helps, but it does not make a situation like this simple or immediate. There are delays, uncertainties, out-of-pocket needs, and a long list of things that must be dealt with before life feels normal again.
I am organizing this fundraiser to help my parents with immediate and ongoing needs as they work through this recovery process. Donations will help with things like transportation, essential replacements, and easing some of the financial pressure while they wait for insurance and move through everything that comes with a loss like this.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any support, whether through a donation, a share, or a prayer, means a great deal to our family.
