When we bought this house, I was never put on the title—my ex was the owner. Eight years ago, he left, and I became a single mom. Since then, I’ve been making mortgage payments through him because the bank won’t accept them from me. Back in June, he stopped responding to me, cut off my medical insurance while I was going through radiation for breast cancer, and stopped taking money for the payments. The bank still won’t work with me because I’m not on the title, and now my home of 13 years is in foreclosure and set to be auctioned soon. My family and I have no choice but to move.

Because I was battling breast cancer, I had to stop working and rely on credit to get by. I just started working full time again in August, but I get paid bi-weekly and it’s just not enough to cover the upfront costs of moving into a new house. A 3-4 bedroom house is double what I’ve been paying. I can make the rent, but I can’t come up with a lump sum, and I’ve been working hard to pay back the credit I used to get my score back up. I didn’t expect this, but I have no other option but to leave and start new.

I’m reaching out for help because I want to give my family a safe place to live and a fresh start. The funds will go directly to moving costs, first month’s rent, and the deposit for a new home.
