My name is Michelle (27) and I’m writing this with my heart in my hands while going through one of the most painful and unjust moments of my life.

We are a family of three, with our son (9) and we are about to be a family of four. I’m currently eight months pregnant with our second child. This should be a time filled with hope and preparation. Instead, we are facing fear, sadness, and deep uncertainty.

Last Wednesday, my husband was detained by ICE after attending a scheduled check-in appointment, an appointment he showed up to willingly and in good faith. Since that moment, ICE has held him in custody, and we still haven’t received clear information about his case. The lack of answers is devastating.

My husband Alberto (27) is our only source of income. But more than that, he is my emotional support, my partner, and the father of our children. My son and I depend on him completely. I have no family here in the US, no other support system. He was all we had.

Because I am eight months pregnant, I can’t work. My health requires rest and medical attention, but instead, I’m struggling to stay calm and strong while carrying this heavy burden alone.

Alberto is a kind, responsible, and hard-working man. He has always respected this country’s laws and worked double shifts, doing construction work during the day and restaurant job at night 6 days a week, often working 16 hours a day to ensure we never went without. He also supports his mother, who is in poor health back in Bolivia, and takes on a fatherly role for his young nephews, who came to the U.S. without their parents. His heart is big, and he gives everything for his family.

And now, ICE has taken him from us, ripping our family apart just weeks before we welcome our new baby. My son cries for his dad. I cry for my partner. And we both live each day wondering if we’ll ever be whole again.

We are asking for your help. Every donation, no matter how small, goes toward legal representation for my husband, urgent medical care related to my pregnancy, and basic living expenses like rent, food, and utilities during this time of crisis.

Even if you can’t donate, please help us by sharing our story. Please help us raise our voices so ICE sees not just a case number, but a human being-a father, a husband, and a man who only wants to be there for his family.

I need my husband by my side to bring this baby into the world in peace. My son needs his father. And our family needs to be reunited.

El miércoles pasado, mi esposo fue detenido por ICE tras asistir a una cita programada, a la que se presentó voluntariamente y de buena fe. Desde ese momento, ICE lo tiene bajo custodia, y hasta ahora no hemos recibido información clara sobre su caso. Esta falta de respuestas es devastadora.

Mi esposo, Alberto (27), es nuestra única fuente de ingresos. Pero más allá de eso, es mi apoyo emocional, mi compañero de vida y el padre de nuestros hijos. Mi hijo y yo dependemos completamente de él. No tengo familia aquí, ni red de apoyo. Solo lo tenía a él.

Por mi avanzado embarazo, no puedo trabajar. Mi salud requiere descanso y atención médica, pero en su lugar, estoy luchando por mantener la calma y la fuerza mientras cargo con este peso tan grande sola.

Alberto es un hombre amable, responsable y trabajador. Siempre ha respetado las leyes de este país y ha trabajado turnos dobles, haciendo trabajo de construcción durante el día y en un restaurante por la noche, seis días a la semana, a menudo trabajando hasta 16 horas al día para asegurarse de que nunca nos faltara nada. También apoya a su madre, que está en mal estado de salud en Bolivia, y cumple un papel paternal para sus sobrinos pequeños, que vinieron a los Estados Unidos sin sus padres. Tiene un gran corazón y lo da todo por su familia.

Y ahora, ICE lo ha separado de nosotros, destrozando nuestra familia justo semanas antes de que nazca nuestro bebé. Mi hijo llora por su papá. Yo lloro por mi compañero. Y ambos vivimos cada día preguntándonos si algún día volveremos a estar completos.

Estamos pidiendo tu ayuda. Cada donación, por pequeña que sea, irá destinada a la representación legal de mi esposo, a cubrir el cuidado médico urgente relacionado con mi embarazo y a gastos básicos como el alquiler, alimentos y servicios durante esta crisis.

Incluso si no puedes donar, por favor ayúdanos compartiendo nuestra historia. Ayúdanos a alzar la voz para que ICE no vea solo un número de caso, sino a un ser humano: un padre, un esposo, y un hombre que solo quiere estar al lado de su familia.
