Support Michelle Hernandez's Journey to Make a Difference in Healthcare
Hi everyone! My name is Michelle Hernandez, and I’m a proud first-generation college student in my senior year at UC Berkeley. I’m majoring in Integrative Biology with an emphasis in Human Biology and minoring in Hispanic Language, Linguistics, and Bilingualism. Growing up on the beautiful coast of Half Moon Bay, I’ve always aspired to make a meaningful impact on my community. My ultimate goal is to become a pediatrician, representing and advocating for the Latino community in the medical field.
This January, I have an incredible opportunity to intern with Dr. Nancy Harris at Fundación Astra, a clinic in Baja California, Mexico. The clinic's mission resonates deeply with my own values, focusing on providing preventive and curative healthcare to underserved populations, including children, at-risk youth, mothers, the chronically ill, the elderly, and those facing social exclusion.
During my two-week internship, I’ll be contributing to meaningful projects such as:
-Assisting with a children’s health fair
-Developing a nutrition curriculum
-Supporting clinical work and outreach efforts
To make this experience possible, I’m raising funds to cover the costs of my trip and stay. This opportunity will not only allow me to give back to a community in need but also gain invaluable experience that will shape my journey toward becoming a compassionate and effective pediatrician.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a world of difference. Thank you for supporting my dream and helping me make a positive impact in the world!
