My name is Casandra Moore, reaching out for prayers and help for an unexpected tragedy that hit myself and my husband, Michael Powell.
On Friday evening, May 1st, 2025, I was at work at the gas station across the street from my home on 5702 N. 76th Street. A neighbor came into my job and informed me that my home was on fire. As I saw my home in flames, I ran to save my husband, who was asleep in our bedroom.
As I fought the fire to get my husband out, I could not, as the home was in flames. Finally, the fire department arrived and had to rescue Michael from the home. My husband is currently in the ICU burn unit, still unconscious and struggling to survive and fight for his life due to the fire causing so much damage to him. Our home, which we lived in for over 18 years and was given to us by Michael’s late mother after her passing, sustained extensive damage and has been deemed a total loss. We lost everything we owned; we could not grab or salvage a thing. We lost our two cats; they died in the fire and could not be saved.
Every memory, every belonging. We have the clothes on our backs, and that’s all. We have lost everything, literally unbelievable. It’s like a horrifying bad dream we can’t wake up from, a real-life horror story for us.
So, we are seeking help. We are currently homeless, and Michael is still hospitalized and undergoing horrible health conditions.
Please, prayers and hope are what we need, and we appreciate and thank you in advance.
