Help Oma Mia give aid to the refugees in Greece
Donation protected
The day after Christmas, the anniversary of her son's passing, I spoke to my grandma Mia. She is 91 and stuck in her little flat in Eindhoven. She said to me over the phone that she plays the lottery, in case she wins, she can give all the money to the refugees in Greece. She watches the crisis on the news and feels powerless, she has trouble sleeping, thinking about the brutal suffering that ordinary people, victims, are subjected to, traumatized, homeless, and hopeless.
She cannot use the internet, so this is a pledge to spend 2021, until the day after Christmas, fundraising for her to give to the refugees in Greece. Do you want to be involved? Give anything, it will mean the world to her, and of course, to the thousands of refugees that are suffering in Greece, in front of Europe's closed doors.
As part of my work in research, I will spend the next year finding out what the most effective way is to use her donation. It may be the UNHCR or it may be a local activist that works with refugee camps in Greece. I will post updates about the research and fundraising on our research website.
Thank you in advance,
Mia Thomaidou, on behalf of Mia van Gennip
