Help Merima Care for Alem While They Navigate the Unexpected

Merima is a strong, devoted single mom of four, doing everything she can for her children, especially her 10-year-old son, Alem. Alem is Tier 3 autistic and began regressing when he was just five years old. Since then, life has been a daily balancing act of love, advocacy, and survival.

For the past eight months, Merima has been working with case managers through the long and complex process of securing a placement for Alem with a disability services organization, something that would provide him with the specialized care and support he needs, and give Merima the stability to continue working and providing for her family. They were told Alem had a spot. They were given a placement date of June 25. But just days ago, that placement was unexpectedly denied.

Now, Merima and her family are left scrambling with no clear path forward. Right now, Alem is being cared for by his older sister while school is out, but she’s at peak exhaustion, trying her best to meet his needs without the professional training or resources to do so safely or sustainably. Alem needs more support than any one person, let alone a sibling, can provide alone.

Quitting her job to care for Alem full-time isn’t financially possible, and finding someone qualified, willing, and available to provide the level of care he needs is both difficult and expensive.

She’s at her breaking point, and reluctantly, but bravely, is asking for help.

Funds raised will go directly toward securing care and support for Alem while Merima fights for a longer-term solution. Merima je samohrana majka četvero djece i svakodnevno se bori da svojoj djeci pruži ljubav, sigurnost i stabilnost. Njen desetogodišnji sin Alem ima autizam trećeg stepena. Njegova regresija je počela već s pet godina, a od tada je život ove porodice pun izazova, ali i nevjerovatne snage i borbe.

Sada su ostali bez rješenja.

Trenutno o Alema brine njegova starija sestra dok je školski raspust, ali bez stručne podrške i pomoći, to više nije održivo. Alemove potrebe su prevelike za jednu osobu, a Merima si ne može priuštiti da napusti posao i posveti se punovremenoj njezi.
