For 46 years, Mercy Soup Kitchen in Wyandanch has welcomed our neighbors for a hot, home-cooked lunch. Every weekday at 11:30 a.m., our doors have opened to anyone who needed a meal. No questions asked. Just a seat at the table.
On Sunday, October 18, a fire broke out in the kitchen entrance doorway. The damage has forced us to close.
Before the fire, our volunteers served more than 140 meals each weekday to seniors, families, people with disabilities, and neighbors without housing. For many of our guests, lunch at Mercy is the most reliable meal of their day.
Hunger doesn’t stop because our doors are closed.
Every weekday we remain closed, our neighbors lose a place they count on for a hot meal and a warm welcome. With winter coming and the holidays approaching, getting our kitchen back into service is urgent.
Please help us repair our kitchen and reopen our doors. Your donation will help fund the repairs needed so we can return to serving our community at full capacity as soon as possible.
If you can give, thank you. If giving isn’t possible, sharing this page helps us reach others who can.
Thank you for helping us bring our neighbors back to the table.
With much gratitude,
The Mercy Soup Kitchen Team
