If you've ever watched someone you love fade in front of you — and felt powerless to stop it — you'll understand why I'm writing this. My mom is my everything, and I'm fighting with everything I have to give her peace, comfort, and one final wish come true.
Hi everyone,
My name is Melis, and I'm fundraising for my mom — my best friend, my world, and the strongest person I know. For over 16 years, my mom has been fighting cancer. Sixteen years of surgeries, chemo, and endless hospital visits. Sixteen years of courage, even when her body was breaking down. Through every setback, every tear, she's kept her faith and her smile — reminding me daily what true strength looks like.
But now, her health is declining faster than ever. Doctors recently discovered a hemorrhage in her brain and a new tumor growing. She's been through chemo, but her body became too weak to continue. She's also battling Hashimoto's disease, ataxia, and gallbladder swelling, each one taking more from her every day. There are days she can barely stand or eat, but somehow, she still looks at me and says, "We'll get through this."
I'm 26 years old and her full-time caregiver. It's just me and her — no other family here to help. I work two jobs, but nearly everything I make goes straight to her care: medications, transportation, hospital bills, and necessities that insurance won't cover. We're in a constant uphill battle just to keep her stable and safe.
Twice, doctors have told us she only had 1–3 months left to live. Both times, I broke down thinking I'd lose her — and both times, she's defied the odds. By the grace of God, she's still here. Every day feels like a miracle. But deep down, I know time is running short… and I just want her remaining days to be peaceful, full of love, and free from worry.
Her one wish — the only thing she asks for anymore — is to go home to Turkey to see her family. To hug her parents again. To be surrounded by the people and places that shaped her. We've come so close to making it happen a few times, but each time, something stops us — her health declines, we run out of funds, or life throws another obstacle our way. Watching her dream slip away again and again has been heartbreaking.
This fundraiser means everything to us. The funds will go toward:
• Covering medical bills and treatments not covered by insurance
• Helping get her safely to Turkey with medical support for travel
• Supporting basic living and caregiving expenses, so I can continue caring for her full-time
My mom has spent her life giving to others — never asking for anything in return. Now, after 16 years of fighting, she deserves comfort, dignity, and the chance to see her family one last time.
Even the smallest donation can make a difference. Every share, every kind word, every dollar brings us closer to her wish — and helps me give her the peace she's earned after a lifetime of struggle.
If you can give, please know your help means more than words could ever express. If you can't donate, sharing this page or sending a prayer is just as powerful. Together, we can help my mom finish her fight surrounded by love, family, and faith.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, caring, and helping us hold onto hope a little longer.
❤️ With love and endless gratitude,
Melis
