Help Mele Kalikimaka Walk Again – Emergency Surgery for IVDD
Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
We’re reaching out today with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for your help with our sweet French Bulldog, Mele Kalikimaka. Mele is 3 ½ years old, full of personality, snuggles, and that special Frenchie charm that melts hearts everywhere she goes. But recently, our joyful little girl received a heartbreaking diagnosis: Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD).
Mele began showing signs of severe neck pain and weakness, and after multiple vet visits and diagnostic tests, we learned she has a slipped disc in her neck—a condition that’s not only extremely painful but also potentially paralyzing without treatment.
The recommended treatment is a hemilaminectomy, a specialized spinal surgery to relieve pressure on her spinal cord and give her the best chance at a full recovery. Without it, Mele may lose her ability to walk and live comfortably. With it, she can regain her mobility, reduce her pain, and go back to being the playful, happy pup we all love so dearly.
The cost of the surgery, hospital stay, medications, and follow-up care is $20,000, and we’re humbly asking for help to make this possible. Every single donation—no matter how small—brings us closer to getting Mele the care she desperately needs.
Mele is not just a pet—she’s family. She’s our sunshine, our snoring cuddle buddy and our Christmas gift. We can't imagine life without her wagging tail and goofy grin.
If you’re able to donate or share this page with others, we would be endlessly grateful. From the bottom of our hearts— thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
Hanna, Preston & Mele Kalikimaka
