I am Danielle Wright and my nephew Dylan was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood sarcoma in March of 2020. He has undergone chemo and surgery to reduce and remove the tumor on his leg. He is continuing chemo treatment to make sure the cancer does not spread. Since he is immunocompromised and his treatments don't stick to a set schedule due to his blood counts, my sister Melaina was unable to return to work. She has tried to claim unemployment but has since been denied. She has exhausted all of her savings (and the life insurance money from our mother passing from cancer in 2019) to keep the utilities paid, and gas in the car to get Dylan to and from appointments. Our family and friends have been helping her out the best we can, but it is becoming a struggle for us as well. Melaina would love to return to work, but she is not reliable right now because she could have to call off at any given time with little notice. Also, she cannot risk bringing any germs back to Dylan. Because of this, my niece Alaina stays with her other aunt during the week to attend school. She only gets to visit on the weekends. All we are asking is for a little assistance to get her through until his treatments are done, and it is safe for her to return to work. Any little bit helps, and it is going 100% to her family for the household bills, gas, and food.
