Help Megan Rebuild After Divorce

I'm starting this GoFundMe for my younger sister who is finalizing her divorce after 10 years of marriage. She has dealt with a tremendous amount of distress through the process - emotional, mental, and financial. Now, as the primary parent for her toddler daughter - and despite her amazing strength and being an incredible mother - she is facing an uphill battle to get on her feet.

Megan was married at 18 years old and spent the last decade working full-time (at times with multiple jobs) to support their family as her ex-husband went to college and then through medical school. She is a very talented photographer as well, shooting as often as able to supplement their income. However, this arrangement did not prepare her well for her new reality as a single and primary custodian parent.

She has been financially independent since September and has exhausted all funds due to legal fees. Post-divorce, she will receive some financial support to care for her daughter, although given how expensive everything is these days it won’t even fully cover the cost of childcare to allow her to work. She has returned to Arizona with very few possessions and with no car. She is starting over nearly from scratch.

She is applying to jobs in hopes of landing something as soon as possible to be able to provide for her daughter and create a strong foundation for their future. As her photography equipment arrives from Texas, she will also be resuming her photography business in Arizona.

Currently, she is living with my family, and while we're doing everything we can to support her, her financial burden continues to be overwhelming. We want to do everything possible to help her get back on her feet again after giving up so much.

We've been through so much together, and I love her with all my heart. As her big sister, I will bear her burdens any way I know how to, including asking for help. I’ve watched a new version of my little sister evolve in the last few months. She is resilient and her strength is inspiring, though I’ve seen the hardship she has had to endure. It breaks my heart to see her once stable and very comfortable future disappear after committing herself over the years.
