Megan (Mishler) Wainwright and her husband Dave had just arrived to a cabin near Alpena for a much-anticipated vacation only to be taken to the ER for what seemed to be a severe migraine. She was treated and released, only to collapse almost as soon as she was back in the cabin where she then began having seizure-like symptoms. She was taken back to the hospital by ambulance where she spent about 36 hours in an observation room, meds were adjusted and she was released again. But, you guessed it, things went south such that an ambulance was called again. This time they did some imaging and an ischemic stroke was diagnosed. She was given TNK (tenecteplase - a clot-buster) and life-flighted to Midland where she was hospitalized for about 10 days. It turned out to be a bit more complicated than "just" a stroke. She had a vertebral artery dissection (lining pulls away from artery) which probably caused the blockage, and then (probably) due to the treatment for the stroke, she had a sub-arachnoid hemorrhage. Dave has been on leave without pay so that he could stay with Megan and be her patient advocate/champion. She has a very complicated medical history, so his presence was/is vital. Unfortunately, they don't have any financial cushion. Having no pay for almost 3 weeks is challenging. They could use a little bit of help to get through this rough patch.
