Help me welcome and resettle Afghan refugees!

Hello-
As you may know, tens of thousands of Afghans fled their homeland last August in a chaotic airlift that took place amid the withdrawal of US and NATO forces during the final days of the war in Afghanistan and the Taliban offensive in Afghanistan.
For the next year (and beyond?) I will be volunteering as an advocate for three wonderful young Afghan women who fled their homeland and now are resettling into our Eugene, OR community. After a traumatic exit in August, they spent 5 long months at a military base in Wisconsin before relocating to Oregon in the last few weeks.
There is an amazing team of volunteers working with the Refugee Resettlement Coalition of Lane County to help them with healthcare, immigration status, employment, and so forth. A huge step is that they will be moving into their own home this upcoming weekend! As one of their two advocates, I will be helping them get settled in their home, take them to appointments, help them immerse in their new community, explore Oregon, and generally support them during this transition time.
I created this page to generate a fund so that I can comfortably support them for this next year. I will be spending a lot of my time working with these women and having some community support will go a long way! Please consider donating a small amount of money that will go towards home furnishings, excursions, and other resources as needed.
Thank you! And I encourage you to look into ways to support refugees in your own community!
Love,
Anna
