Help John visit a friend - April 2022 Update

A Request for Support

 

Hey Fam,

 

Each of us have dear people in our world, where - if they were going through a tough time - you would endeavour to move mountains for them.

 

I have a friend of mine living in regional Queensland.

They have moved into a small town and are fixing up their new home, while single-handedly raising a child.

 

My friend has been a victim of domestic violence (which is why I'm not naming them here).

And this season was meant to be their fresh start.

 

But after a few setbacks, a couple of months ago they asked if I'd be willing to travel up there for a week or so, and help them with babysitting, along with some renovation work. I'm a safe presence for them, and could offer practical support as well as some emotional care.

 

I said yes.

 

After nearly seven weeks, my case for travel exemption was finally heard and approved by the Queensland Government with the condition that I did hotel quarantine when I arrived.

 

Which brings us to now.

 

I am making the decision in the next 24 hours whether I book this trip and get to my friend or not.

 

I have a small window of opportunity to set aside time now before the rest of the year's commitments set in.

 

What was meant to be a $1000 one week care visit, now looks like three weeks with a pricetag over $5000.

 

Which is why this request to support is going out to you.
