Help me to support the Badjao Tribe
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Maebh, I'm from Galway and work for SERVE in Solidarity; a Cork based international development and volunteer sending organisation.
SERVE has worked for 20 years, to support young people in marginalised communities and is committed to tackling global inequality. Overall, the work of the organisation is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but much of our focus is around SDG 4: Quality Education.
Each summer, we send groups of volunteers to various locations in the Global South, to work with the organisations that we partner with, across 11 different countries. These partner organisations do fantastic work all year around and we support them in any way that we can. This year, two projects will take place in Beira, Mozambique and Cebu, the Philippines.
I will be travelling to Cebu in the Philippines, to lead a group of volunteers in their work there. We will stay with and support the Badjao Tribe- a nomadic and seafaring tribe. Over the space of 4 weeks we will work in partnership with the Presentation Sisters and the Nano Nagle Child and Learning Centre, supporting the community in a number of ways through education (english classes, art, drama, play), construction and any other projects that the community may feel is needed.
All donations to this appeal, will be distributed directly to SERVE, to help us continue to work with communities around the world.
