April 12th, my heart went into a severe arrhythmia and my defibrillator fired multiple times in a row. It was brutal. After more than 20 years of heart failure and the last 6 years living with an LVAD, I’ve reached the point where a transplant was a future thing it’s a now thing.
The doctors have now moved me to the highest priority level for a transplant. That means when a match becomes available in this region, I’m next in line. It’s a strange place to be, grateful for the chance, but also facing a major surgery with a lot of unknowns.
In the meantime, I’m stuck in the hospital waiting. I can’t work. I don’t know how long I’ll be here, and even if everything goes perfectly, recovery will take time before I can get back on my feet.
Bills don’t stop, though. Mortgage, medical costs, and everyday expenses are piling up. More importantly, I want to make sure my family is taken care of while I’m going through this.
If you know me, you know I’m not someone who asks for help. I’ve always tried to be the one giving, not asking. But right now, I don’t have much of a choice.
If you’re able to contribute, it would mean a lot. And if you can’t, sharing this helps just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can give. Saying "Hey" is also a great gift too! Thanks for caring.
