Eeek! It’s finally happening—I’m heading to Ghana this March for a three-month community development volunteering internship with GVI! This opportunity means so much to me, as I’ve always felt a deep pull toward helping communities in need. I remember being heartbroken as a child whenever I saw children struggling due to a lack of basic resources, and now I have the chance to contribute in a meaningful way.
After my initial plans to volunteer in 2020 were put on hold due to COVID, I’m beyond excited to finally be all booked and ready to go! I'll be working with GVI, an incredible ethical organisation that partners with local communities to achieve measurable, sustainable progress based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). If you’d like to learn more about GVI Ghana’s focus areas, check out SDGs 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, and 15—all of which aim to create lasting positive change.
While I’ve self-funded my trip, I would love your support in raising money for the women and children in the community.
My goal is to provide school supplies for local children to assist with their eduction and sanitary products (pads only) for women and girls, as period poverty is a major issue in the region.
If you’d like to contribute—whether through a donation or by providing physical supplies—I’d be so grateful. Every little bit helps and will go directly to the people who need it most.
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions! You can also find me on LinkedIn: http://linkedin.com/in/dkimberley
Thank you so much for your support!
