Hi everyone,
Our names are Rewan Polkinghorne and Katie Taylor, and we’re a couple from Cornwall, UK, passionate about making a difference. We are currently university students, and this year, we are taking on an incredible opportunity to volunteer in Tanzania with International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).
In July, we will be traveling to Tanzania to work with underprivileged children, providing them with education, mentorship, and essential support in schools and orphanages. But before we go, we want to challenge ourselves and raise funds in a meaningful way—and that’s where YOU come in!
100 Miles in March & the Bristol Half Marathon!
To help raise money, we are doing 100 miles throughout March and I (Rewan), will be competing in the Bristol Half Marathon to push ourselves physically while raising awareness for this important cause.
This challenge is not just about fitness—it’s about going the extra mile to make a difference. Every step we take is in support of children who lack access to basic necessities, education, and opportunities for a brighter future.
Why Tanzania?
Tanzania is a beautiful country, but many children face extreme poverty, lack of education, and limited access to basic resources. Through IVHQ, Katie and I will be working with local schools, orphanages, and community centers to support and empower these children, ensuring they get the care, guidance, and encouragement they deserve.
We believe that every child should have the chance to dream big and achieve great things—but they need the right support to do so. That’s where we come in, and where YOU can help!
How Your Support Will Help
We are fundraising to cover the following costs for both of us:
✅ Educational materials (books, stationery, and school supplies for the children)
✅ Basic necessities (food, clothing, and hygiene products)
✅ Program fees (ensuring sustainable support for local initiatives)
These are all essentials that we take for granted.
Why This Means So Much to Us
I have previously volunteered in Uganda, working with disadvantaged communities, and are currently involved in disability charities, which has strengthened our passion for giving back. This time, I’m grateful to be sharing this journey with Katie, as we take on this challenge together.
We know that small acts of kindness can create lasting change, and this experience will not only allow us to help others but also grow as individuals, learning valuable lessons about resilience, gratitude, and global citizenship.
How You Can Help
By donating, you’re not just supporting our journey—you’re directly impacting the lives of children in Tanzania.
£5 could provide a child with school supplies
£10 could contribute towards a nutritious meal for a child
£20+ could help fund educational resources for a whole classroom
Even if you can’t donate, simply sharing our fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Let’s run, give, and change lives together—one mile at a time!
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!
❤️ Rewan & Katie
