Help Me Support My Mom Shanda Holmes

Hello friends and family,
My name is Jayla Holmes and I am 21 years old. I am the daughter of the late John Holmes Jr. and Shanda Holmes. It is with deepest gratitude for me to say that I am so thankful for the love, support, and encouragement I’ve had in my years of growing up. I have my mother and father to thank for the woman I am slowly, but surely becoming. I truly couldn’t have asked for better parents. Back in February 2024, my father suddenly suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and unfortunately passed within 3 weeks of this diagnosis. As of March 2025 my mother had been diagnosed with a type of brain damage called wernicke-korsakoff syndrome. Its symptoms are very similar to dementia as it causes memory impairment, confabulation (Making up stories to fill in memory gaps, often without realizing they are fabricated), confusion, and emotional changes. This condition requires for her to have long term care as there is no knowing whether she will be the same again. During these difficult times I truly believe God will have the final say. It is with him that I can be strong and stand for my mother and family during this trying time. If you knew my mother then you knew she struggled in her upbringing but still persevered as she was determined to have a better life. She became a registered nurse and had 3 children, me being the youngest. She had a loving, giving, and joyous heart. She taught me how to sing and how to go after the greater things in life. I owe her everything. I’m hoping that those who you knew her well could help me raise money to support her during this time. I’m not asking for a specific amount but whatever is in your heart to give will be greatly appreciated.✝️
