Help Me Secure Legal Equal Parental Rights for My Daughter

Hi, my name is Leo Marquez, and I’m reaching out for support to help cover lawyer and filing fees so I can legally secure equal parental rights for my amazing daughter, Kairi.

If you know me, you know that Kairi is my entire world. I’ve been in her life since she was just 10 months old, and from the moment I met her, I loved her as my own. Kairi is now 9 years old. We both recognize the critical role I’ve played in raising her. More than anything, we want to ensure Kairi has the legal protection of two parents who love and care for her deeply.

Because I am not her biological father, I need to go through the legal process to obtain parental rights. As a trans man, this is even more urgent given today’s political climate, where protections for families like ours could be at risk. Securing these rights means Kairi will remain covered under my health insurance and continue to have the stability and care she deserves.

We have found a lawyer who has presented us with a legal path forward, but financially, this has been challenging. I work full-time and have two side jobs as a DJ and videographer/producer, but with the rising cost of living, it’s been difficult to save enough to make this happen on our own. I am not someone who usually asks for financial help, but this is too important to wait any longer.
