For most of my adult life, I faced challenges that kept me from having a stable place to call home. After spending two-thirds of my adult years in prison, I made a commitment to turn my life around. Since then, I’ve worked hard to better myself and to give back to others who are struggling. I became a motivational speaker and an activist, focusing on helping troubled youth and people experiencing chronic homelessness.

Now, I’m at a turning point. I’ve found an opportunity to move into a home, but the upfront costs—first month’s rent, last month’s rent, and a security deposit—are more than I can afford on my own. Having a stable home would mean the world to me. It would give me the foundation I need to focus, rest, and continue my work supporting others.
