Help me save the wild horses!

My name is Molly Proper. Many of you know me as the owner of breezy lawn farm in Coxsackie NY. I started my business in the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and I was blessed to have it take off. Since then I have rescued many different horses. My goal is that every horse who comes here feels safe and loved until the very end. Many of them sick, many hurt, starved, beaten, etc. A lot of these I have been able to gain the trust of and put into my programs with our veterans, and individuals with disabilities. While some have not made it long, they knew they were loved until the very last breath.
About 2 weeks ago I was contacted by a friend to help save his grandfathers (who passed away) horses who lived freely on the side of a mountain in Canojoharie. These horses were extremely feral and roamed 70+ acres as they pleased. While they were given hay in the winter months and had fields of grass in the summer, they didn’t get handled due to the man getting sick.
Being the person I am agreed to go take a look to see if this was even remotely possible to even save these horses. I walked hills, rocks, trees and brush to find them at the very top of the mountain and they were so scared but wanted so badly to trust me.
If I couldn’t save these poor innocent horses they would have been killed.
Fast forward to yesterday, October 1st 2024. I did whatever I had to do and we hauled up there and spent 7 1/2 hours gaining the trust of 2 out of 5 of them. Unfortunately we were running out of day light and could only save 2 last night but knew we needed to get them home. Today, thanks to friends of ours coming together we managed to save 2 more. The final horse left started panicking but would not load. She started to injure herself so we backed off. The last and final horse will be saved tomorrow and brought to the farm to be with her friends.
Both times, yesterday and today the horses had extremely traumatic trailering experiences. Last night we had to call the emergency vet to come because one of them collapsed. Turns out she has a severe heart murmur as well as no previous vet or farrier care… todays load involved one of them slicing a chunk of her foot off and we again had to call the emergency vet to come help stop the bleeding.
none of these horses have had vet care or farrier care to date.
I am pleading for help to cover medical costs for these beautiful lives I am determined to save. I am not one to ask for help especially in a situation like this but these horses need our help. They need their vaccines, continued medical care, not to mention all the hay they will be eating. Any little bit will help and I am so very grateful for the opportunity to be able to help and give these horses a final place to live out their days safe and happy.
thank you all! Please know how truly grateful I am for any help even if it’s just to spread the word or come visit these majestic 5.
They need our help! ❤️
