My name is Ava Davis Miller. I’m a mother of two, a military spouse, and a graduate social work student—and I’m fighting to keep the only place that’s ever felt like home.
Last year, I lost my mom in inpatient hospice after a painful battle with breast cancer. She adopted me from foster care and gave me a life filled with love, safety, and faith. She was my best friend, my safe place, and the only person who truly stood by me. I stayed by her side until the very end, holding her hand as she took her final breath.
Since then, I’ve been living in a storm of betrayal and loss.
In her final days, people close to her persuaded her to sign a new will. I wasn’t removed entirely, but I was pushed out of the position of trust I had faithfully held. The estate was turned over to someone with financial interest. My father, who hadn’t seen her in months and married her best friend two months after her death, refused to come to her funeral—and now refuses to help me save the home she left behind.
But I’m still here. And I’m still fighting.
I’m trying to buy back the house and 2 acres where my mom lived, prayed, and passed. I’m offering $380,000 to cover the remaining $280,000 mortgage and an additional $100,000 debt that was used against me during this legal battle. I’m even walking away from the $100,000 inheritance I should have received—just to keep my mother’s home.
To finalize this, I need to raise $100,000 for the down payment and closing.
And now, in the middle of this fight, I’ve been diagnosed by my breast oncologist with a suspected recurrence of the very cancer that took my mom. Surgery has been scheduled to confirm and begin treatment. I’m trying to hold my family together, fight for our home, raise two children, and show up for legal responsibilities, all while staring down the possibility of chemo and reconstruction.
This isn’t just about a piece of property. It’s about legacy. It’s about healing. It’s about a daughter trying to preserve the last sacred piece of her mother’s life.
If you feel moved to help, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
If you can’t give, please share our story.
Every donation, every prayer, every share brings us closer to saving the home that holds her memory—and gives me the strength to keep going.
With love and deep gratitude,
Ava Davis Miller
