Help Me Reunite with My Family in Ethiopia After 15 Years
Hi, my name is Abigael Schnabel.
For as long as I can remember, I have felt a deep pull toward Ethiopia. This isn’t just about visiting another country—this is my home, the place where I grew up. I remember everything about my childhood there: the laughter, the food, the language, the love of family. Ethiopia is tied to my spirit, my roots, and my sense of purpose.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Beteseb Felega – Ethiopian Adoption Connection for helping me find my dad. I am forever thankful for their support in making this reunion possible.
When I was just 10 years old, my siblings and I were adopted and brought to the United States. That meant leaving behind my family in Ethiopia, not fully understanding at the time how long and hard that separation would be. Now I’m 25, and it has been 15 years since I last saw my family. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about them and dream of reuniting.
This trip is even more special because my baby will be coming with me. The thought of introducing my child to their family, their culture, and the land that shaped me fills my heart with so much joy and hope.
This journey represents more than travel—it is about reunion, healing, discovery, and growth. It’s about finding pieces of myself that I lost when I was separated from my family so many years ago.
But I can’t do this on my own. The cost of flights, lodging, and basic expenses is more than I can manage right now, which is why I’m asking for your support. Every single contribution—no matter how small—brings me one step closer to finally being able to hug my family again after 15 long years.
Your kindness would help cover:
✈️ Airfare to Ethiopia for me and my baby
• Travel Documents & Fees: Passport renewal, visa, and related paperwork.
• Transportation in Ethiopia: Safe travel between the airport and the places where I’ll meet my family.
• Basic Living Costs While There: Food and a modest place to stay during the reunion.
• Unexpected Expenses: Anything essential that comes up (like communication costs or emergency needs).
A safe place to stay and food to eat
Transportation while we are there
Family gifts: Bringing thoughtful gifts for my family in Ethiopia to show love, respect, and gratitude when we reunite.
More than just covering costs, your support means I won’t be walking this journey alone—that there are people who believe in me, my story, and the importance of family.
Your kindness doesn’t just fund a trip—it makes a long-awaited family reunion possible.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading my story and considering helping me. Even if you can’t donate, a simple share would mean the world.
With love and gratitude,
