Hi, my name is Sinara Rozo I am an cultural worker and live in Toronto with my two kids and my dog.
Currently I am preparing for a kidney transplant, a life-saving procedure that will give me a second chance at health. While the surgery itself is covered, the recovery period afterward is long, intensive, and not fully supported by insurance or public assistance.
After a kidney transplant, patients require strict post-transplant care, especially during the first 3–6 months, to prevent infection, organ rejection, and complications. During this time, I will not be able to safely manage daily tasks on my own.
Post-transplant recovery requires trained, ongoing assistance. While my sons are supportive, they do not have the medical experience needed for this level of care, and I will need professional support during recovery.
The funds raised will help cover:
- Personal & Medical Support
- Medication organization and reminders (anti-rejection medications)
- Monitoring for signs of infection or rejection
- Assistance with bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Support following medical instructions and recovery plans
- Housekeeping & Home Support
- Meal preparation according to post-transplant dietary guidelines
- Cleaning and sanitizing the home to reduce infection risk
- Laundry, bedding changes, and maintaining a hygienic living space
- Kitchen sanitation
- Transportation to frequent transplant clinic visits, lab tests, and follow-ups
- Help managing appointments
- Recovery supplies and basic living expenses while I am unable to work.
---> Why This Support Is Critical
A clean, well-maintained home is medically necessary after a kidney transplant. I have a lovely PSW but they only assist me with light work for 45 minutes a day, 2 times per week, and I will need more than that.
Exposure to germs, fatigue, or missed medications can seriously threaten the success of the transplant. Proper home care and housekeeping are essential parts of recovery, not luxuries.
Every donation—no matter the amount—will directly support my recovery and help protect this new kidney. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support as I work toward healing and a healthier future.
With gratitude,
Sinara
